John 3:22-36
Some temptations arrive dressed like loyalty. When John’s disciples saw the crowds turning toward Jesus, they saw a threat. John saw his joy fulfilled. The bride belongs to the Bridegroom, and everything John had was a gift from heaven. He had come to prepare the way—not possess the spotlight. “He must increase, but I must decrease.” This is the freedom of knowing who you are because you know who He is.
Jesus is no competing teacher. He is the Son from above, speaking the words of God, with all things entrusted into His hands. The Father loves the world and gives His Son. The Father loves His Son and gives Him everything. And the chapter closes with an urgent dividing line: whoever believes in the Son has everlasting life; whoever rejects Him remains under God’s wrath. This reaches beyond whose ministry gets the attention. It asks whose hands hold your eternity—and whether you will entrust yourself to Him.
