James 5:1-6
James 5:1–6 is a thunderclap of divine judgment against the ungodly rich who have built their lives on greed, oppression, and self-indulgence. James strips away the illusion of wealth and exposes its coming ruin: riches rot, garments decay, and treasured gold becomes evidence in God’s courtroom. The wages stolen from laborers cry out for justice, and the Lord of Hosts hears every cry. While the poor suffer, the wealthy gorge themselves in luxury, fattening their hearts for the day of slaughter. They have condemned and crushed the righteous, who possess no earthly power to resist them. The passage stands as a terrifying warning that wealth without righteousness is a curse, and that no amount of earthly prosperity can shield a person from the holy judgment of God.
