James 2:20-26

James 2:20–26 strips away empty profession and exposes the truth: faith that never moves is not merely weak—it is dead. James points to Abraham, whose willingness to offer Isaac revealed that his faith was not theoretical but active, brought to completion through obedience. He then turns to Rahab, whose protection of the spies demonstrated that genuine faith acts, even at great cost. In both cases, works do not replace faith; they reveal and perfect it. James’ conclusion is unflinching: just as a body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead—because real faith has movement, breath, and visible life.
