James 4:13–17 Deo Volente
Life is fragile, uncertain, and ultimately governed by God’s will—not our own ambitions. James rebukes the arrogance of planning as though tomorrow is guaranteed and calls believers to live in humble dependence upon God, saying, “If the Lord wills.” He concludes by reminding us that sin is not only doing what is wrong, but also failing to do the good we know God requires. Humble yourself before God’s sovereignty, hold your plans loosely, and faithfully do the good He has placed before you today.
